Starting off 2014 I am walking our congregation through the pivotal points in the life of Moses with a series called “The Journey.” It’s been a refreshing read for me personally as I pour back through the stories that I (and many of us) grew up in Sunday School with. Moses’ life reveals to us major questions that all of us wrestle with as we embark on our own journey with the Most High.
First and foremost, we have to realize we have been invited. The invitation may not come through a burning bush in the desert, but a clarion call has been issued to all humanity to go on an adventurous journey with Him that will be full of peaks and valleys, tragedies and triumphs. This journey is not a crutch for those who need a mental escape from the harsh realities of life, but rather an expedition that requires tenacity, fortitude, courage and a faith that is grounded in the truth that God will be with us every step of the way.
In the first two weeks, we looked at three big questions Moses wrestled with that all of us deal with whether we are pre-journey, just starting the journey, mid-journey or nearing the finish line:
Who Am I ? (Self-Identity)
Who Are You ? (God-Identity)
Can I Trust You? (Faith Identity)
Who am I ? I am (and you are) one who has been invited by god to journey with Him.
Who are You ? God reveals Himself as the Great “I Am” speaking of his constancy and immutability.
Can I trust You? If Moses’ life is any indication, the answer is a resounding “YES.”
